Filed under: Associations, Catering, Event & Meeting Sites, Event Planning, wine tours — Bravo Publications @ 4:28 pm

Last Tuesday the ISES group climbed on the new Double Decker PDX bus and headed out to the gorge. Rick from Wild Bill’s provided team building entertaiment on our ride.   Our first stop was Cathedral Ridge Winery where Hudson gave us a tour and we were able to sample many of their wines. Our next stop was the beautiful Columbia Cliff Villas. Sara with White Buffalo Catering provided tons of delicious food for us to snack on while enjoying the spectacular view.  We went over to the Columbia Gorge Hotel for champagne and chocolate and a tour of their grounds. We had a great time! Paul Rich was our photographer and he took some great shots. Check them out his blog.

What’s New in Swag? - September 10, 2009

September’s ISES Portland meeting will be an interactive display and panel discussion:  “What’s New in Swag?”  We want our panel of expert promotional product distributors to give us their best pointers on when and how branded giveaways can best be utilized, so we’ll be asking the hard questions, as usual!  Each of our panelists will also be bringing a wide display of the latest “giveaway” products, and even telling us which ones we could order AT THIS EVENT and have ready in time for, say, the Bravo show in October!

The event will be on September 29th from 11:30 to 1:30, at the brand new Urban Studios in the heart of the Pearl District at 206 NW 10th Avenue.  Lunch will be provided by Pearl Catering.

Join us at this very special new venue for great networking, food, and education.  Click HERE to register.

ISES Summer Soiree - September 3, 2009

Wow!  The 1st annual ISES Summer Soiree on the rooftop at Hotel deLuxe was a BLAST!  Everyone got into the tropical spirit with a perfect evening and a big helping hand from decorators Maria Corvallis at Peter Corvallis Production and Nick Apap from Royce’s Prop Shop.  Also, we had canopies provided by Barclay Event Rental, lighting by Hollywood Lighting Services, casino games and sound system from Team Casino, photo booth and wacky hats (fun!) by Paparazzi Tonight (check out the photos), tropical smoothies from Maui Wowi, and of course delicious appetizers and a full bar from Gracies catering….this was a great event!  We also enjoyed some hula dancing courtesy of O.H.A.N.A.  Thanks to everyone who contributed!  We encourage all of you to give these great suppliers a look the next time you are in need of the services they offer!

Check out a few of the photos to see a little bit of this event—we networked and partied and took wacky photographs all evening!!  And what a VIEW from this cool new event space, eh?  You can look for this event to be repeated annually for sure!

The Beautiful Columbia River Gorge - August 4, 2009

The Bravo team recently made the trip up to the Gorge to meet with current and potential clients, along with the Columbia River Gorge Visitor’s Association to promote the regional expansion of Bravo! The meeting took place at the Brick Haven Bed & Breakfast, a nice place to stay if you’re visiting the Gorge!

While we were in town we toured multiple properties, and found some great locations for weddings, events, honeymoons and weekend getaways! Our first stop was at the Columbia Cliff Villas, where the motto is “easy to get to, hard to leave!” The hotel itself is gorgeous, with hard wood floors and modern amenities (flat screen TV’s and wireless internet in every room!), and with picture windows, the views cannot be beat. If you do find it hard to pack up and leave, the hotel offers ownership options for 18 of their luxury villas! Located right next door to the Cliff Villas is the historic Columbia Gorge Hotel, a luxury boutique hotel that is worth a peak even if you don’t plan to stay the night! Another option is the newly renovated hotel, Best Western Hood River Inn. It is located on the shore of the Columbia River, and they have just added gorgeous suites that overlook the Columbia River—a spectacular nighttime view.

During our time at the Gorge we went to the Cathedral Ridge Winery, where we enjoyed tasting a variety of wines while listening to stories from Rob. He told us about the local climate, and how every grape they use is grown within 25 miles of Cathedral Ridge. Aside from tasting and tours, the winery also is a great location for company parties, social events, and wedding receptions.  Our final stop for the day was Hood River’s newest hidden gem, Mt. Hood Winery. With breathtaking views you will experience 360 degrees of mountain vistas. The winery is available for weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners, and corporate events.

We stayed at Skamania Lodge, to which we give rave reviews. The Lodge is amazing, as are the pool and the 18-hole golf course. We ended our day sitting out front watching the gorgeous sunset, a truly amazing experience.

On our way back, we stopped at the Carson Ridge Cabins. This hotel is a great place to hold a retreat or family reunion, as each cabin is private and luxurious. You can spend your time at the in-house spa, drive the Fruit Loop, “a 35-mile, scenic drive through the valley’s orchards, forests, farmlands”, or visit Carson Hot Springs which is less than a mile away!

This trip made us appreciate how truly beautiful Oregon is.
