Today, I was invited by Susan Crow to attend the YWCA annual lunch- with guest Speaker- Catherine Ryan Hyde. She is the author of the book “Pay It Forward”, that later became a movie. This is one of my all time favorites! The “Pay it Forward” movement has taken off all over the world. If you have not seen the movie, you need to go rent it! The story is about a boy who believed in the goodness of human nature, and he set out to change the world. The YWCA provides services for women and children that are trying to escape domestic violence, plus many other worthy causes. The money raised helps those in our own backyard. One of the things that meant most to me today was a quote from Sydney Smith- “It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little. Do what you can.”
I would like to offer a challenge to all brides, event planners and Bravo! clients to pay it forward. Three small acts of kindness is all that it takes, a few good deeds can turn into thousands in a short period of time. Donate $10 to YWCA - help a stranger carry groceries, volunteer time at a shelter. This is the ultimate multi-level payout!

Bravo to Patrick Lamb for silencing the Rose Garden fans before the Portland Trail Blazer win over the Houston Rockets last night for Game 5 in the NBA playoffs! He played an amazing version of the Star Spangled Banner on his sax and had everyone captivated with his beautiful and inspiring music.
Patrick’s also available for private events, such as weddings and auctions – and is also available to put himself and his musical talents UP for auction to help raise funds for your charity/cause. Click here for more info.
Just got back from a fabulous weekend at Spirit Mountain Casino – wow, what a great place to hold a corporate retreat, meeting or group getaway! Their hotel rooms are so nice, well-decorated and good sized too. The staff was very helpful… from the valet, to restaurant staff to the dealers. Their new Raindrops Nightclub is opening May 23rd and looks to be very cool. We felt very comfortable and “waited on” where-ever we went – I can only imagine what renting one of their ballrooms for an event would be like.
Did everyone check out another one of our clients on “Good Day Oregon” the other day? The Oswego Lake House has a beautiful venue for client events, dinners or just a leisurely evening by the water. They hosted the Bravo Client Appreciation Party last year and did an amazing job with an attentive staff, delicious hors d’oeurves and creative Bravo signature cocktails! Great job Oswego Lake House!
Ecotrust Event Spaces invites you to a “Cake & Punch Revival”… a throwback to “no-fuss celebrations of all kinds from weddings to birthdays to reunions”! Their caterers will showcase modern-day versions of dessert and punch receptions in their newest event venue, the Center for Architecture.

The Caples House Museum complex in Columbia City, OR is offering “Memory Walk Bricks” installed in certain pathways of the grounds to commemorate weddings, the lives of those no longer with us, births, anniversaries, and all of life’s memorable events.
Caples House is a pioneer house museum owned and run by the Oregon State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Situated with an inspiring view of the Columbia River and Mount St. Helens, the house and grounds have seen a lot of history – from log cabin days to housing (in what ought to have been by rights Mrs. Caples’ dining room) the first doctor’s office in Columbia County. But history is not frozen in amber – every person who interacts with a place or community leaves an imprint of sorts – and the OSSDAR is honoring this fact with Love Bricks.
The herb garden, site of weddings and renewal of vows, will be paved with bricks commemorating weddings and anniversaries. A “Memory Walk” between the museum’s Country Store (museum shop) and the Children’s Attic (with its collection of antique dolls and toys) will be paved with bricks honoring births, deaths, and other family events.
Bricks are available to the public for $45 each. A complimentary brick is included when Caples House is rented for a full day for a wedding or other event.
