Great Wolf Lodge- better than great! - March 30, 2009

Mary Lou Burton took her two kids and three other friends up to the Great Wolf Lodge last wednesday for a fun Spring Break adventure. They had a blast swimming and sliding in the indoor Swim park, eating in the fun restaurants under the tent, going on a magiQuest throughout the lodge and even a kid’s spa! We came down to the lobby for a special show and storytime in our PJ’s. The best part is there was something for everyone– It is almost impossible to please a teen and my twelve year old and his friend enjoyed the arcade, video/ computer room and quick food options.

This is a great place to have a corporate meeting with their large 30,000 ft. conference facility, while the family enjoys all the activities! We look forward to offering a special Bravo! discount package in the future….stay tuned.

Exhibition & Trade Show Tip -

Are you effectively reaching younger attendees (under 40) to your booth at tradeshows? According to Meeting News Magazine and a survey by the Center for Exhibition Industry Research, younger attendees desire more ability to plan their exhibitor interactions before the start of the event in order to maximize their time on a large show floor.

In a survey to hundreds of attendees at a recent event in Chicago, they suggested “scheduling appointments would make them more efficient in talking to experts in the exhibit booths and getting quality information”. The younger participants cited a preference for interactive components within exhibits – where they can “personally engage with the product or control the demonstration” – it’s much more effective than brochures!

ISES Portland Swanky Warehouse Event - March 26, 2009

WOW! What a success the March ISES (International Special Events Society) meeting was!

Not only did attendees see what can be done to an everyday empty warehouse, after a delicious lunch and great entertainment by Portland’s premier jazz saxophonist, Patrick Lamb, the attendees got to hear each vendor tell “how they did it” in a hands-on, interactive presentation…all under one roof. We learned that seamless creative collaboration to create an amazing event space is critical! Thank you to all six top-notch event production vendors that “pimped our warehouse” and miraculously turned the Luxe Autohaus into a swanky lounge:

•Scott Galloway of West Coast Drape for room draping and rigging

•Bob Zavada of Stages Northwest for riser decking, carpet and skirting

•Dwayne Thomas of Hollywood Lighting Services for lighting and LED video

•Nick Apap of Royce’s Prop Shop for tabletop and hanging decors, scenery and sets

•Maria Corvallis of Peter Corvallis Productions for furnishings and linens

•Matt Harper of Henry V for podium, sound reinforcement and powerpoint video projection

ISES also thanks the following companies for their assistance in making this “show and tell” event happen:

•Tim Michaels and Shellie Thornton at Luxe Autohaus for hosting the meeting

•Peter Barnett and Michael Peters of Premiere Catering for providing a delicious lunch

Patrick Lamb Band for the fabulous entertainment

A Swank Affair for the programs

Alesia Zorn Calligraphy for the beautiful hand painted and calligraphy menu signs

In attendance was Kathy Newby, the Regional ISES VP, who told the ISES Portland board members following the event “You have really raised the bar on monthly meetings for all of ISES with this event!”
