The Hidden Treasures of the Columbia River Gorge - August 19, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — Bravo Publications @ 4:59 pm

Throughout the years Oregon has maintained and cherished the rich history of its past. Philip Foster Farm does just that, by capturing and enhancing the historical elements this site has to offer. Located in Estacada, OR, this historic property has a beautiful rustic barn and great outdoor space, perfect for weddings, receptions, corporate events, reunions, etc. Cedar Springs Country Estate, located in Sandy, OR, has been a client of Bravo!’s since 1991! They offer beautiful grounds with a picturesque gazebo, perfect for romantic wedding ceremonies, as well as a tree house, playhouse and sandbox to keep kids occupied during a celebration. Cedar Springs is a great fit for both weddings and corporate events.

History in Oregon however, is not just about the Oregon Trail and Lewis & Clark, it comes in all shapes and sizes, and it is beautifully preserved in the historic Columbia Gorge Hotel built in 1904. It boasts both fabulous food and drinks, amazing views, and cozy rooms. This is a wonderful place to relax and lay your head after a long day of work and/or play! The Columbia Gorge Hotel is definitely a must-see when visiting the gorge and abides by its slogan, truly being “a legacy of luxury.”

Another hidden gem in Skamania County is Woodard Creek Landing. They have multiple buildings on site, including the newly renovated Old Cape Horn Grange building which can hold up to 200 guests. This building has been refurbished with hardwood floors, a full stage for musicians or DJ’s, a vintage kitchen,  and rooms upstairs for the bridal party to get ready in. Another facility they offer is The Bar and Grill which can host up to 50 guests indoors and 100 guests for indoor/outdoor celebrations.

Carson Ridge Private Luxury Cabins offers stunning unobstructed views of the gorge and cascade mountain range. Their cabins include amenities such as: jetted tubs, fireplaces, log beds, private decks, and so much more. For more sweeping views of the gorge, including Mt. Hood and the White Salmon River Valley, check out the elegantly furnished Victorian farmhouse of Husum Highlands Bed & Breakfast. This B & B can accommodate private parties, retreats, meetings and weddings.

Maryhill Winery, located in Goldendale, WA, offers their tasting room, patio, stage, recreation area and more, for those wanting to host an event at this gorgeous location. The scenic area is perched on a bluff overlooking the Columbia River, capturing every sunset perfectly, and enticing more individuals to come back again to experience the beauty and sit back and relax with a glass of award-winning wine.

Bigfoot Lodge is placed on 64 acres of private forested land, enabling most activities a non constrained curfew. This breathtaking location is in the heart of the Hood River Valley and has been preferred by those hosting receptions, retreats, family reunions, weddings, and business meetings.

One of the closer treasures to Portland is The View Point Inn, located in Corbett, OR. This establishment is located near Crown Point and can be used solely for the purpose of your private event, closed off to the public entirely. Make this historical Inn your very own for your very special event.

Cathedral Ridge Winery is the perfect setting for your outdoor wedding, reception, family gathering, or business retreat. It is nestled in a beautiful vineyard looking out over Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams, catering up to 200 guests.

If catering is what you are looking for, then look no further than Cork & Bottle Catering, who is licensed in both Oregon and Washington. They offer off-site catering to many venues in the gorge and are flexible with their packages to fit any budget. Cork & Bottle Catering strives to offer the best seasonal produce and meats to their clients from relaxed affairs to upscale extravaganzas.

Now it’s your turn! Take a trip to the Columbia River Gorge and experience these hidden treasures for all they are worth!

VIP PDX is happy to announce their new Fall Events. Peanut Butter has Jelly, Burt has Ernie, and Football has Beer! No matter if you’re a die-hard Duck fan or a die-hard Beaver fan, you and your friends can sit back, relax, and enjoy traveling to college games without dealing with traffic or parking! The weekend of the CIVIL WAR is still open and a few other hot dates too, so check out VIP PDX’s schedule and book your next event with groups ranging from 13-30 guests.

If football isn’t your thing, then kick off your shoes and head to Willamette Valley Vineyards for their Grape Stomping Championship. They provide all-inclusive weekday wine packages and can offer you a variety of vineyards if you don’t already have some in mind.

New to the Bravo! family, and to the Portland area, is another transportation service called Double Decker PDX. Highlighted in today’s Oregonian, the revamped British Bristol Lodekka bus was launched in early July as something more than a party bus, but rather a “lounge on wheels.” This luxury Double Decker charter/limousine can travel in style for weddings, corporate functions, proms, birthdays, pub-crawls, etc. You name it, they’ll do it! If that wasn’t enough… they also execute sustainable practices by being a part of “Plant A Tree Partner”, which plants a tree for every mile driven by Double Decker PDX. They also use Biodiesel to reduce their carbon footprint.

So now that you know all about these two great charter services, be sure to check out each of our vendors online to receive information about important dates, deals, and booking info. Everyone should experience a party on wheels once in their life… right?!

From Farm to Table - July 21, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — Bravo Publications @ 1:53 pm

Chef Earl Hook of Meriwether’s Restaurant creates each dish to reflect a “farm to table” approach with a Pacific Northwest menu. Each dish includes fresh produce from their very own farm called Meriwether’s Skyline Farm.

About two and a half years ago, Meriwether’s took the initiative to create and operate their very own 5 acre vegetable farm located at the apex of Skyline Boulevard in Portland. The elimination of a middle man between the produce and the chef was of great importance to Meriwether’s. Not only would Meriwether’s know exactly where their produce was coming from, they would also be able to promote the strict organic qualities of their food to their diners.

Skyline Farms has completed 2 full harvests, providing the restaurant with over 8,000 pounds of produce. “What are they growing?” you may ask. Here is just a taste of the well over 40 varieties of produce they harvest:

Arugula, Kale, Breakfast Radish, Hakurei Turnip, Merlin Beets, Lettuce, Magda Squash, Green Garlic, Fennel, Carrots, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Strawberries, Snow Peas, etc.

Skyline Farm offers complimentary wine and cheese tours, introducing guests to the farm, its crops and mission. Enjoy wine and cheese tasting from local purveyors with friends in a picturesque rural setting just minutes from Portland.

The next tour will be Saturday July 24th at 12:00 p.m.
